Gary Schmidt

Hi, My passion is music! I have been so fortunate in life to have been able to follow that path and  it has and continues to be a wonderful adventure. 

 

I grew up in Quebec, Canada and at an early age declared to myself that I would be a pianist when I grew up.  Since piano lessons were not readily available in my rural area I was mainly self taught (along with some help from mom) by immersing myself in listening to the wonders of classical piano music and following the printed music.  Later I was fortunate to study piano at both Tyndale College and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.  Over the years I have had the privilege of playing piano in many venues including some in Canada, Europe, and most recently, Mexico.  I have also been fortunate to play piano locally for many special events in places like the Denver Country Club, The Governor's Mansion, the Stanley Hotel and the Rialto Theater in Loveland as well as having been chosen as the featured Colorado Front Range musician for the recent TedX events. 

 

As a recording artist I have released 4 Cd's; two of original compositions and two solo classical piano. My 2016 recording of original material, Landscapes of the Heart, was produced by  Will Ackerman, a Grammy award winning artist/producer and founder of Windham Hill Records. Was thrilled that it won an Album of the Year award from One World Radio in Europe!

 

Was invited to play at Carnegie hall.  to perform two of my original piano pieces for an awards ceremony for New Age/Ambiant piano writings.

 

In 2017 was invited to play at an award ceremony for an album of the year award at the Grand Old Opry!

I currently reside in Loveland but perform in many venues around Colorado.  I maintain a private piano studio at my home in Loveland where I offer professional quality teaching.  It features a very special Steinway grand piano!  I very much enjoy providing musical instruction, piano lessons, writing music, and yes even practicing! Being both a pianist and a teacher is great!
